Nutrition support during cancer treatment
Made for one journey. Meaningful for many more.
Biocare was built for the GLP-1 community, and especially for the days when a smaller appetite makes protein and nutrients hard to come by. We learned quickly that those days are not unique to GLP-1 users.
Cancer and its treatment can change appetite, taste, energy, and digestion. Needs vary enormously from one person to the next. For some, Biocare offers a manageable way to add protein and nutrients when a full meal is more than you can face.
Talk with your oncology care team before adding Biocare to your nutrition plan.
When eating feels like a challenge
Making every sip count.
Treatment can affect appetite, energy, taste, digestion, and how much you can manage at one time. Some days, finishing a normal meal is not realistic.
Those are often the same days protein, fluids, and nutrients matter most. Biocare is one way to add them back without cooking anything.
Nothing tastes right
Treatment can change how food tastes and smells. Old favorites can turn on you.
Full after a few bites
Early fullness makes a full plate feel impossible before you have really started.
Queasy mornings
Nausea has a way of arriving exactly when you were supposed to eat.
Too tired to cook
Some days the energy for a meal is not there, and that is fair.
If any of this sounds familiar, you are not doing it wrong. This is common.
Why protein matters
Protein supports the strength you are drawing on.
Protein maintains muscle, and muscle is what gets you up the stairs and through an appointment. Clinical nutrition guidelines generally recommend that people in treatment aim higher on protein than the general population, which is close to the opposite of what appetite tends to allow.
Each Biocare beverage provides 30g of complete protein to help support lean muscle and your daily protein intake.
Your needs are personal and will shift during treatment. Your oncologist or an oncology registered dietitian can tell you what your protein target should be.

- Blended with cold water and ice
- Mixed ahead and refrigerated
- Sipped slowly rather than finished all at once
- Split into smaller portions across the day
- Thinned or thickened to whatever you can manage
If you have mouth sores, pain, or trouble chewing or swallowing, talk with your care team before using Biocare or changing how you prepare it.
Add it, do not swap it.
Biocare is meant to sit alongside your meals and snacks, not replace them. It is not a sole source of nutrition and it does not replace medical nutrition therapy.
If you are losing weight without trying, tell your care team. That is information they want.
Your experience is personal
There is no single right way to handle nutrition during treatment.
Treatments and their effects vary widely, and your needs may change week to week or even day to day. Give yourself room to adjust, and focus on what is manageable.
Tell your care team if you are:
- Losing weight without trying
- Eating much less than usual
- Full after only a few bites
- Dealing with nausea, vomiting, diarrhea, or constipation
- Noticing changes in taste or smell
- Developing mouth sores or trouble swallowing
- Struggling to meet your fluid or nutrition needs
Your oncologist or oncology registered dietitian can build a plan around your diagnosis, treatment, symptoms, medications, and history.
For caregivers
Helping can start with something small.
When someone you love is in treatment, you want to do something. Keeping easy options within reach lets them choose what feels possible when they are ready.
Try not to push them to finish a meal or a drink. Appetite and taste shift without warning, and what worked yesterday may not work today.
Before offering Biocare, have your loved one review the ingredients and nutrition information with their care team.
Common questions
Questions people ask us
Can I drink this during chemotherapy?
Many people use high protein beverages during treatment, but whether it is right for you depends on your treatment, your blood counts, and any restrictions you have been given. Ask your oncology team before you start.
Is this a meal replacement?
Not here. Use Biocare alongside your meals and snacks. If full meals have become difficult, that is worth telling your care team.
Will it help me keep weight on?
Biocare provides protein and micronutrients that help support muscle maintenance. It is not a treatment for weight loss caused by cancer or its treatment. If you are losing weight unintentionally, contact your care team.
Does it contain dairy?
Yes. The protein comes from whey and casein, so it contains milk. It also contains soy lecithin.
What if the flavors stop tasting good?
Very common during treatment. Try serving it very cold, or rotating between flavors. The variety pack exists for exactly this.
How much protein do I need?
That is a question for your oncology dietitian. Targets vary quite a lot from person to person.
One more option for getting through the day.
Biocare was built to help people get real nutrition when appetite is limited. We are glad it has turned out to be useful in journeys we did not plan for.
If cancer or its treatment is making nutrition hard, ask your care team whether Biocare fits your plan.
