How Biocare is formulated

What we mean when we say scientifically designed

Here is what sits behind ours: who formulates the product, which published research informed each decision, at what doses, and to what manufacturing standard.

Scientifically designed means the formula was built from published research. It is not a claim that Biocare will produce a particular result for you. This page keeps those two apart.

Six decisions, and what informed each one

Every ingredient in Biocare is there for a stated reason. These are the six that shaped the formula most.

1

Leucine at 3 grams, because the research names a threshold

The literature on protein and lean mass does not point at protein alone. It repeatedly examines whey together with leucine and vitamin D as a combination, and one paper is more specific than that: Devkota and Layman identify 2.5 g of leucine as the meal threshold that triggers a post-meal anabolic response. We formulated above it rather than near it.

In every serving: 30 g whey isolate, whey concentrate, calcium and sodium caseinate · 3 g total leucine, including 500 mg added · 25 mcg vitamin D

2

Creatine, because a protein drink does not supply it by accident

Creatine turnover is roughly 2 g a day. About half is made internally and the rest has to come from food, where typical intake lands near 1 g. The reason we add it rather than assume the protein covers it is visible in the numbers.

Source Creatine
Whey protein, 25 to 50 g 0.005 to 0.025 g
Red meat, 4 to 8 oz 0.25 to 0.5 g
Salmon, 4 to 8 oz 0.5 to 1 g
One serving of Biocare 1 g

3

Four separate ingredients for digestive comfort

Protein powders are often hard on the stomach, and that is the most common reason people stop taking one. Rather than accept it, we included four ingredients that have each been studied for gastrointestinal comfort, at the doses used in that research.

In every serving: 75 mg GutGard deglycyrrhizinated licorice · 20 mg zinc L-carnosine as PepZin GI · 500 million CFU Bacillus coagulans · a five enzyme DigeZyme complex · medium chain triglycerides

Raveendra et al. 2012 · Hewlings and Kalman 2020 · Majeed et al. 2023 · Majeed et al. 2018 · Shah and Limketkai 2017. Four of these are randomized, double blind, placebo controlled studies.

4

Micronutrients dosed to help the body use the protein

Thirty grams of protein is only useful if the body can metabolize it. Vitamin D, zinc, B6 and B12 are the cofactors that work involved in that process, and the research links low status in each to reduced muscle quality. That is why these four sit at or above Daily Value rather than at a token level.

In every serving: vitamin D 25 mcg, 125% DV · vitamin B12 4.8 mcg, 200% DV · vitamin B6 1.7 mg, 100% DV · zinc from two sources

Dědečková et al. 2023 · Bischoff-Ferrari et al. 2011 · Daniel et al. 2015 · Chen et al. 2024 · Hernández-Camacho et al. 2020 · Kato et al. 2024 · Sharma et al. 2024 · Allen 2012.

5

Fiber chosen to work with the probiotic, not beside it

A probiotic and a fiber source in the same product are not automatically related. Prebiotic fibers are the ones the research pairs with probiotic strains, so that is the fiber type we used. Flaxseed does double duty as a dietary source of ALA.

In every serving: 6 g fiber from resistant maltodextrin and ground flaxseed

6

Mineral form, and surviving a cupboard rather than a refrigerator

A number on a panel is not the same as what the body can take up. Chelated forms protect minerals from binding agents until absorption, vitamin K2 is paired with the calcium rather than the calcium listed alone, and microencapsulation keeps a live probiotic viable in a shelf stable powder.

In every serving: 650 mg calcium · 22.5 mcg vitamin K2 as MK-7 · single serve foil packets, no refrigeration, 7 oz cold water, no blender

Mattar et al. 2022 · Mandatori et al. 2021 · Maresz 2015 · Alonso et al. 2022 · Ward n.d. · Yan et al. 2022.

Four things worth knowing about the composition

7 to 8 gAvailable carbohydrate per serving, after fiber is subtracted
Under 2 gLactose, which is low enough that many people who avoid dairy tolerate it
NoneNo gluten-containing ingredients
2 gAdded sugar. Sweetened with monk fruit and stevia

Biocare is built around two servings a day. At that intake it delivers 100% or more of the Daily Value for the essential micronutrients in the formula. One serving a day still works, and most people start there.

Who actually formulates it

Biocare is a Robard Corporation brand. Robard has spent roughly 50 years in clinical nutrition, supplying medical weight management programs and working through physicians rather than only through retail. The people who built Biocare are the people who have been formulating clinical nutrition products for decades, which is the part of scientifically designed that is hardest to acquire and easiest to overlook.

And how it is made

Formulation is only half of it. These are the standards our manufacturing is audited against, with the current certificates attached so you can read them yourself.

SQF certified

Safe Quality Food, a GFSI recognized food safety and quality certification, verified by third party audit.

View the certificate

GMP certified

Good Manufacturing Practice, covering process control, sanitation, documentation and traceability.

View the certificate

Made in the USA

Manufactured domestically, which keeps the supply chain and the audit trail short enough to actually verify.

If you are managing a health condition, taking medication, or working with a care team, they may want the full composition rather than a summary. Send them the information sheet.

About the research cited on this pageMuch of the research cited here was conducted in other populations, on isolated ingredients, and at doses that may differ from ours. That is how nutrition products are built, and it is worth saying rather than leaving you to assume otherwise. Biocare is a dietary supplement. It is not a treatment for any condition. Talk with your physician or a registered dietitian before changing your diet, particularly if you are managing a health condition or taking medication.
